Wondering what’s the story behind One Bad Ant?
As a matter of fact, One Bad Ant operates like a good story—through communication and creativity.
We began writing the first chapter of the OBA story after
16 years of working for a large, impersonal bureaucracy. We envisioned
using the internet to reach out to customers, to involve them in the
organization, to create a dialogue, a partnership. But the organization
worried about losing control. After fighting to create an open internet
for customers, management decided to outsource the foundation we needed
to a company whose reps were named Damian, Rex, and Attila (and we’re
not making this up!). Well! How could we compete with an evil one, a
king, and a rapacious pillager? If we had been waiting for “The Omen”
that we were in the wrong place, this was it!
We decided that there is a better way to do things, a more inclusive
and personal approach to business that includes having fun. Afterall,
having fun is a far better way to work with people, and it’s also good
for mind, body, and soul. This philosophy materialized into OBA.
The logo captures what we value—that work is fun, imaginative, and playful. One is the antithesis of bureaucracy. Bad is thinking outside the box, being creative in the face of conventionality. And Ant…well,
ants are hardworking and interact cooperatively with others. They build
complex structures and are capable of carrying many times their own
weight. Putting it all together: OBA plays with ideas as building
blocks that lead to new outcomes and new possibilities for you, your
customers, your website, and your company. Oh, and we have fun doing it!
So, that’s us in a logo. We’re all about engaging you and your
